Peaches Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 *Sometimes* I am not seeing a missile countdown (to active, to impact) in the HUD on TWS AIM-120 shots. I am usually in the TWS AUTO mode when shooting. Is anyone else noticing this or know what is correct HUD info on these shots?

LTRMcrew Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 I've seen both... and I'm no expert but I'm thinking if you launch it close enough it's gone active immediately after launch. If you launch earlier near Rmax you'll see the count down till active and this is when you need to keep your radar focused on the bandit.
Harker Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 (edited) I get both Time-to-Active (ACT) and Time-to-Go (TTG) HUD cues. The only weird thing I saw is if I fire from beyond Rmax, I'll just get ACT on the HUD, without a number and it'll start counting down the Time-to-Active later. AFAIK, the HUD should display ACT and TTG cues for the last launched missile towards the current L&S target or for the missile under the trigger, depending on whether there is a missile out or not. The only thing I'm unclear on is if the ACT and TTG cues depend on the current L&S selection or if they refer to the last missile launched, regardless of its target. I think that the former is currently implemented in DCS and it makes more sense to me anyway, since the MC tracks fly-outs for multiple targets. Peaches Posted February 5, 2020 Author Posted February 5, 2020 Update from some testing. 1. TWS countdown timer on the HUD is for last missile shot, not current L&S target. 2. Loss of the timer *appears* to be associated with aggressive maneuvers. For example, I take a TWS shot, get the ACT timer, then if I crank aggressively the timer drops and is replaced with just "ACT." The TWS lock is still shown, so it's not a loss of "lock." On the other hand, a TWS shot with no or gentle maneuvers has the count down going all the way to impact.
