ChuckIV Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Just got an Oculus Rift S, and this NEWBIE could use some serious help!! I fly the Spitfire and Mustang exclusively and I'm looking to improve the quality I'm getting out of this Rift S. As you can see my specs in my signature below. I've got the NVIDIA 1070 GPU. I got all my Windows 10 settings set for max performance now. I downloaded the OTT app and have tried to tweak a few things, but no luck really - and I don't know what the heck I'm doing honestly. Can a 1070 (or similar GPU) user chime in with all your settings that work well for you? ... or lead me to the forum post that does? I really would like to get this Rift S working. I need... NVIDIA settings OTT settings DCS in game VR settings DCS basic settings and ANY other settings/apps/etc !! Anything you guys can provide me would be GREATLY appreciated!! Svsmokey Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) Nvidea : all settings default except power="max performance" I use the native debug tool instead of OTT , but for either all settings default . DCS graphics : Textures low Water high Civil traffic low Cockpit shadows low Displays 1024 Trees 65% Grass/clutter maxed Chimney smoke 1 View distance low or medium depending on if i want flat terrain shadows or not . PD= 1.0 Everything else minimised or off . These reflect my personal preferences , and provide a decent solo experience low over the Caucasus in the Hornet , L-39 , and Huey in mud moving , scouting , or tourist missions , while also running VoiceAttack . DeltaMike Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Step 1, go easy on that CPU. Civ traffic, grass, smoke all off. "Shadows" off, "terrain object shadows" flat at the most. Vis range medium. Step 2, try to make it look decent. Pretty important to get textures to "high" if you can. You can probably get away with at least some anisotropic filtering, but you can set that low or off for now if you want. Cockpit display resolution 1024. Step 3. Having done that, see what you can do with anti-aliasing. Note, anti-aliasing is pretty much all on the GPU, and you need some help there. Turn off MSAA, and don't run the oculus tray tool, keep it simple and make your adjustments in-game. Start with a PD of 1.0. Keep bumping up your PD until you start to get stutters. You probably won't be able to get much higher than 1.2 and wouldn't be surprised if 1.0 is as good as it gets. Step 4. Can't tell you what to do with NVIDIA driver but I understand there might be some tricks you can do with post-processing. Might also want to check and see if overclocking will accomplish anything.
