Unable to launch Open beta

Looking for some guidance around not being able to launch in Open Beta since the 2.5.6 update.

 

 

The title screen will appear and then a few seconds later disappear. This happens on both steam and stand alone. The odd thing is every now and then it will launch and work (maybe about 1/20 launches for stand alone, 1/50 steam). Logs attached.

 

 

I run the vive cosmos and had to use that cross eye fix so not sure if that's something to do with it however the issue is the same for pancake too.

 

 

I have validated files/completed the clean up and repair. Virus scanner doesn't appear to be causing any trouble however I uninstalled it to confirm.

 

 

All my DLC is in the steam version but installed stand alone to see if the problem was limited to steam.

Can I ask you what your system spec is and what GPU you have?

 

Please ensure windows and all drivers are up to date.

 

If possible please attach your dxdiag

 

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

 

1. click on "START"

2. click "run"

3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"

4. check through the tabs and perform all tests

5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

6. attach this text file

Drivers are up to date (just checked).

Strange I have never seen this before,

 

if it launches sometimes but not others is something blocking it?

The team have suggested staring from scratch.

 

Remove any DCS install you have and rename your dcs folder in your saved games location.

 

Then reinstall DCS and test.

From what I could gather, for stand alone, the times it would run would usually be after I did a clean up and repair, then it will work (or maybe not) on the first run but subsequent tries it won't.

 

 

Steam edition worked after once after I reverted to stable, then back to beta and another time after the hot fix went in on 22 feb.

Other times I've reverted back and forth with no luck.

 

 

 

When 2.5.6 first went live I had trouble with my virus scanner (McAfee) but once DCS was whitelisted it didn't appear to interfere. I uninstalled the virus scanner completely then uninstalled and reinstalled DCS (steam). I've since reinstalled the scanner but if need be can delete it again.

Still no luck but once again I got a single successful launch.

 

 

Here is what I tired:

 

Tried to launch after clean install - Didn't work

Performed Cleanup/repair

Launched from command prompt using dcs.exe

Worked!

Tried cmd prompt dcs.exe again

Didn't work

Tried Desktop shortcut

Didn't work

Cleanup/repair & open from command prompt again

Didn't work

 

 

The successful time it asked for my username and password to which I entered and clicked save details. Bit of a long shot, but if I didn't click save and manually entered the details again could that bypass the issue? If so, where would I find the saved login details in order to delete?

Ok that didn't work but I've found something that did.

 

 

If I launch dcs.exe from cmd promt twice it will work :noexpression:

I get the error msg 'sorry only once instance of write dir is allowed'

*click ok* DCS login appears and the game launches.

 

 

Any idea what could cause that?
