tads Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 :)Greeting's from the UK. Hi, I would like to run BS with good FPS,will my system cope?or do i need to abuse the plastic again on an upgrade to dx10 card and new CPU/memory. AMD AM2 4200+ 2 gig DDR 2 dual channel 800 mhz Nvidia 7900GS 512M pci x 500W Thermaltake PSU XP sp2 Really looking forward to this attack helo sim. Kindest regards Daz
Aeroscout Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Similar to my rig. (few differences...) I'm going to be getting a new processor (AMD AM2 6000) Frankly, the 4200+ with it's shared 1MB L2 cache sucks. the 6000 has 2MB (shared) Whatever you do, DO NOT upgrade to vista. DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
tads Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 Thank's for the advice Aeroscout,if it's a new cpu im thinking core 2 duo? Lol yeah i'll keep away from vista atm,i'll wait until thing's get a little better:) My pc is getting long in the tooth now,as long as i dont turn on AA or AF it gets ok frame rate at 1600x1200 most games/sims. I cant keep up with upgrading every 6 month's or so:),i suppose that's the price you pay if you want to play all the latest stuff with all the eye candy. Thank's for the swift reply,it's appreciated. Kindest regard's Daz
leafer Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Think I'll wait until we get the new engine before I take a plunge. By then, Vista should be up to snuff. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Kindest regards Daz I'm currently running a 7950GT, which by all accounts is comparable to the 7900GS - no complaints at all with that. A strong CPU will certainly help with Black Shark, and the Core 2 Duos seem to work very well indeed on BS . . . but I'd leave your credit card tucked away for the moment. If you really want to upgrade for Black Shark then leave it as late as possible - save more, and get more for your money. A general point for anyone considering an upgrade for BS - don't worry about it yet, and only treat such upgrades as high priority when ED announce a release date ;) As a practical point, even if ED were to announce tomorrow that Black Shark had gone gold - and as has been made clear, there's more work to do on the Mission Editor - there's no way it could make it into your hands for Christmas. Treat yourself or your family some other way this year :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
