Fri13 Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 (edited) [YOUTUBE]0_iRjW8yblM DCS could benefit to offer the new units types for ground commanders use. A passive radars detecting omni-directional emissions (radios, datalinks and such) as well A-G radars operations. There would be various different vehicles to be made, that's systems are not required to be known deeply how to actually made. Only the general specs of the bandwidths and then amount of units to be networked. DCS would itself provide rest, like the Line Of Sight checking for various units, as well atmospheric bouncing for longer distance directions. And then provide the F10 map to track the targets, ID the targets (types, and even individual source identification so it is known when specific source is in use) and provide the IADS system a new completely passive system to create SAM traps as well guide fighters passively on the target. This is more than required on the times now when A-G radars are coming to DCS, there are AWACS, data-link connected fighters and radio communications between units. This kind systems would effectively force many pilots to avoid using radars, datalinks, radios, especially when going for strike missions and searching for targets in air and ground. It is one easier step to make the Electronic Warfare more challenging to master and more slots for dedicated players to operate these EW systems informations and guide other players to fly and defend themselves. Northstar98 Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 +1 I'm slowly getting staggered at just how much stuff is missing from DCS air-defences - I thought it was just support vehicles... I wonder if DCS AI units actually emulate using their RWRs... Fri13 Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 We don't even have a ground units using their laser warning systems to inform them that they are ranged by lasers. And then they don't take any actions to break that guidance lock like using smokes and driving behind cover from that direction the laser emission is coming. The smokes are now only a information for pilot that they have hit the target, and target didn't die. And smoke is gone in a second. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
