robgraham Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 The image kinda says it all, but as of 2.5.6 Amphibious units are able to be placed out even in deep water, were as previously they were restricted to shallow areas, this seems a little buggy and actually could cause routing issues given as you can see i can actually route these on the water, If I put a tank into the mix then they snap back to land etc. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open ME Caucasus. 2. Select a ground unit, Russian, APC-BTR-80 works but any of the 'amphibious' units will do. 3. Drop Ground unit out in the middle of the Ocean. What I would expect to happen: - Unit snap to the nearest SHALLOW water/coastal water not middle of the deep blue sea. Possible causes: - Caucasus water might be registering all as 'shallow' for some reason? i7 13700k, 64gb DDR5, Warthog HOTAS, HP Reverb G2 VR, win 11, RTX 3070 TGW Dedicated Server Admin, Australian PVE/PVP gameplay. Grimes Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 There is no distinction of deep and shallow waters, at least for any "sea" part of the map, its just water. The game does have two states of "water" and "shallow_water" but I'd have to check for where it returns shallow. Might be for rivers or lakes, not sure, but I vaguely recall it not being common. As far as I can tell this did not change with 2.5.6 as you can place BTR-80s there in 2.5.5 and likely earlier patches. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
