kaoqumba Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Hi! I wonder if DCS can avoid long download times by copying and pasting the backup files? For example, I downloaded any version and some modules. I can copy and paste the entire folder onto the usb flash drive. In the future, after I get a new computer, I can copy and paste the backup files onto the new computer, hoping to upgrade to the normal version and use the game. Can this be done?

Buzzles Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 If you want to move computer, yeah. Just move the entire DCS folder and run the updater. You might need to run the installer first to make it register with Windows, but that's it. The Updater does a check to see what files are present and need updating. FWIW, if you ever look really closely at fresh install, it actually just installs the updater (+ a few other bits) and then runs that. Or at least that's how it used to work a couple of years ago.
