New Player: Some questions

Hello everyone. I am new to DCS and learning a lot flying the FA-18. But I have a few questions.

 

 

 

1: When I land at a friendly airport (blue) I cannot refuel, repair, or re-arm. I have tried at multiple locations. Even ones that have many collation fighters parked on the ramp. I have tried turning off engines, opening canopy, even waiving hundred dollar bills. Nobody returns my calls for fueling. It does work perfectly however at my spawn location, or on a carrier.

 

 

 

2: During ground attacks, I use the "tdc depress" function to mark a target in my hud. Then try and slew the cursor directly onto what I want destroyed. It seems no matter what I do, the cursor is never on my target. It seems to always be short or too far. And when I come around for a second pass, the target cursor isn't where I put it. Bug? Doing it wrong?

 

 

3: How can I tell if a threat launched on me is radar or IR?

 

 

4: I seem to get a "check trim" alarm often after landing and taking off again. I check the FCLES page and all trim numbers look normal. I also depress the t/o trim reset button prior to takeoff. But the warning never seems to go away.

If you have easy comms turned off, you have to make sure you are tuned to the same radio frequency as the airport you want to land on. for example, if the AB's frequency is 121.800, click on one of the radio button on the Up-Front-Controls(UFC) and scroll until you see an "M" for manual. Hit the CLR button and type in 121.800 and hit Enter. If you clicked the left radio button on the UFC, then you need to the use keybind for COMM1 to pull up the correct comms menu. Same for right radio button COMM2.

Check frequency like pimp mentioned. You can see airport radios by clicking them on the F10 map.

This function is probably marking the ground, so if you put it over a target you'll end up pointing to a spot behind it. Try marking just infront of the target.

 

 

 

3: How can I tell if a threat launched on me is radar or IR?

The RWR will warn you about radar threats. The F-18 can't detect IR guided launches. You need to know when to expect them and to be able to spot them visually.
