Radar locks with AIM120 C

Is there an issue locking on the FCR? Seemed to have an issue locking an F5, showing up as a red triangle on FCR and pushing up on TMS and nothing. I went back to WAGS’ tutorial and was able to lock no issue on drones. What am I likely doing wrong?

If you only see a red triangle, and no blank square on the same spot, then it's only a surveillance/fighter track displayed from Datalink. Your radar is not seeing it, so you can't lock it.

 

Work your radar to find it (play with radar elevation, azimuth scan, bar scan)

You’ve nailed it Steph! Forgot the IFF and data link was working, that’s what I was getting, just the triangle!!

You can filter the surveillance tracks in the FCR using the UHF/VHF transmit switch, so you can see a better picture of what the radar actually picks up, cross ref with the HSD. This will become a little easier when they implement ghost cursors for the HSD.
