Pikey Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Hi folks, I'm wondering if it's just me, out of all the displays in the JF-17 cockpit, and especially when looking at the fantastic visual filters added to the Targetting pod, there is something that really itches my teeth about the way the radar scope, and to an extent, the MFD's like the HSD in general "look and feel" that is detracting from a fantastic module overall. It's like the graphics are pure and unedited. They don't react to light or global illumination, they appear as if they are a direct image floating in the air, a bit, there is no glow or luminescence about them, they move a little too crisply and it doesn't feel in VR like I am looking at a display at some distance, more that I'm seeing an overlay of graphics via a helmet sight projection. It's very hard to describe and obviously I am talkign about my subjective experience, solely in VR. I could do comparison shots with "other modules" to demonstrate that feeling that the display is coming from behind some layer of glass or plastic, with, but I think folks either see it and it bothers them or they don't care and that's fine. But it bothers me because it detracts and sticks out from the feeling of much of the rest of the excellent art in the cockpit. Anyone feeling this or am I just affected by my own virus?! :) ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
amalahama Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 The "LCD matrix effect" seen in the F-16 and NS430 modules could be a nice shader to apply here. But definitively I can see reflections and smuggles overlaying the LCDs, so I'm quite happy with the result and it feels more natural than Harried MFDs, which don't have any overlay at all. If anything, I would decrease WMD7 resolution in IR mode, it's too high for an IR sensor.
AeriaGloria Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I know what you mean, but try flying during dawn or dusk or even night, the MFCDs have a “glow” that can be controlled with the brightness or else if you don’t dim it everything bleeds together, seems to be that way since new lighting from 2.5.6. And don’t forget to put it in night mode! Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
