markturner1960 Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Hi, I am trying to find an easy way to program my various F keys ( used in game for views and tanker / awacs etc commands) to either my mouse or the unused rocker switches on my cougar MFD's. Using target, it does not seem to let me enter the key presses, is there an easy way to do this ? Is it possible to do in game via the controls GUI? I looked, but could not find a keystroke for these commands...... Thanks PS, before anyone suggests voice attack, I am working on that but first need to get headphone etc and get it set up, so this is meantime and also, tried voiceattack before and had some issues, so may not use it.... Ant0ine Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 You could use voice attack to map keyboard shortcut to your MFD button and mouse button. Last time I used Voice Attack can indeed take keyboard, mouse, and controller as input. You could also use Vjoy+Joystick Gremlin, Joy2Key, Target.. UCR. The most all in one programming software is Vjoy+Joystick Gremlin in my experience.
Sokol1_br Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 (edited) If your mouse has programable software, look if can press F# keys. For MFD buttons - if they are DX buttons, JoyToKey is an easy way for press F# keys. For change in game F# assignment for other keys or buttons is need edit LUA - per module. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=233743&highlight=Function+KEYS&page=2 Edited April 18, 2020 by Sokol1_br
markturner1960 Posted April 18, 2020 Author Posted April 18, 2020 Thanks, will look at that. The F keys have differing functions as well within the sim, base function being the differing views, then when radio selected, they become menu commands......how does work? I did program my mouse button to one of the F keys, F9, but it does not seem to work in the sim..... As I said, I tried using target and it won’t let me assign an F key? Any idea why? Ant0ine Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 I just tested quickly on my Warthog throttle. No issue here, we can even map F# 13 to 24. Make sure both your mouse software and DCS run at the same "level". I would run both as admin. The F keys have differing functions as well within the sim, base function being the differing views, then when radio selected, they become menu commands......how does work? Not sure to understand the question. It is contextual. If coms menu is closed then sending F1 will bring you back into cockpit view. If coms menu is open then sending F1 would do whatever F1 is assigned to in the current coms menu. It might be important in DCS to make sure your keyboard shortcut pulse are long enough. If you use Target GUI the default pulse delay is 32ms (you can change that by clicking on "Configuration options" in the middle column, at the top). That might not be enough, not sure if those delay are needed for F key but I'm sure it is for certain cockpit button. Such as F18 UFC button for exemple.
markturner1960 Posted April 18, 2020 Author Posted April 18, 2020 I have managed to program a script in target now.....however when I try and run it, I get an error saying it cannot associate a filter with the device.....any ideas?
