Gents,

I am looking to get some recommendations for a decent computer to run a server for our squadron.

I was thinking a i7-7700, 64G 2400 RAM, a couple of SSDs and a low end video card.

I have seen some talk about using a Xeon processor, but is it truly needed for DCS?

We will use the server for a couple of missions online with maybe 10 people online at the same time at the most and also use it to run SRS and also our squadron website.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I've never tackled this before and want to get something that will be future proof for the next 10 years or so.

I also have a X299 Dark with a 7820X and 64 G of ram I could use, but after doing some research that feels like overkill for a server for just DCS?

Thanks!

The server really does use much in the way of resources.

I use my old pc, specs below.

I’ve never seen a mission use more then 5GB of ram, so 64GB appears to be overkill. Unless something changes 16GB is more than adequate unless you’re running multiple servers.

SRS uses virtually no resources.
