Guest Vlad247 Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Is there a way to control an airplane in Flanker 2.5 with just a keyboard ? When I press up or down keys an airplane goes up or down too fast. It is almost out of control. I played the old Su27 game with a keyboard more than 10 years ago and airplane control was very easy. I also have the same problem using the Thrustmaster Topgun Fox 2 Pro joystick. I changed the various joystick settings but I have not managed to set the joystick control right - even the slightest vertical joystick deflection causes an airplane to swing rapidly. Do I need a special game patch ? Can an airplane in Flanker 2.5 be controlled with a keyboard at all ? What kind of joystick would you recommend to play this game ? Thanks in advance Vlad
EricJ Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 NO NO NO NO NO Must use joystick! Flanker 2.51 was the last update and ED moved on to LO. Any stick really as long as it recognizes it. The Thrustmaster stick is crap as per a friend of mine who had one. Get anything else. I used a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 and it was cheap but worked. Now that it's gone flaky I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and works fine in LO, though not sure about Flanker 2.51 Homepage | Discord | Linktree | YouTube 'Nearly everyone felt the need to express their views on all wars to me, starting with mine. Guest Crazy_Eyes Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Eric I had one of them Extreme pro's becareful of the twist motion as it wears out very quickly and becomes very unstable. I recommed to any simmer a X52 HOTAS, they are simply awesome.

Thanks in advance Vlad I remember seeing a few tracks and videos in F 2.5 of people using the keyboard to control the aircraft and I still can't believe the control some people acheived with that setup but in LO you really need a joystick; Try this old solution and see if it helps; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=166001#post166001 Cozmo. RedTiger Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 If you play modern combat flight sims with planes that are capable of BVR combat, to be safe you need a controller that allows you to have at least 2 separate hat switches that can be move at the same time -- one for moving the radar and one for moving the designator cursor. For Flanker, you might need a third to look around. I'd recommend this: http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-X52-Flight-Control-System/dp/B00030GSJY/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1199728075&sr=8-1 Realtively cheap and a very good entry level HOTAS.
