tunnel_rat Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Hello, Is there a way to return the Warthog joystick back to factory. I made the mistake of trying to calibrate an already perfectly calibrated stick only to complete mess it up. I used the Thrustmaster calibration tool 1.1 first then found the newer version 1.3 to try and fix what I did but so far no luck. Pitch and Roll axis are all messed up and no amount of curve or dead zone will fix them. Somehow I'm assuming I perhaps created new settings with the calibration tool(s) and now can't figure out how to return to the perfect settings I used to have. Of course, big lesson learned … "if it ain't broke don't fix it". This all started as I've been practicing AAR with the F16 and Wow is that hard and well you know the rest of the story... Any help appreciated. So far I've done: Contacted TM...no response Used the Windows 10 calibration but no luck Used the TM Target software from what I could tell it does not have any sort of calibration tool Completely reloaded Windows 10 and installed all my DCS modules from scratch Joystick is only 4 months young and I did update the firmware the first time I used it months ago. Don't know what else to do but appreciate any input. Thanks! P.S. still need lots of practice with F16 AAR :joystick:

SVgamer72 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Did you click the reset option in Windows (Settings tab under properties for the device)?
tunnel_rat Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 uninstall drivers and start again? Good point. I assumed with the windows reload that would happen but possibly not. I will do that ASAP and get back. Thanks.
tunnel_rat Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 Did you click the reset option in Windows (Settings tab under properties for the device)? Hmm. Don’t recall this but will give it a shot. Thanks
JUICE-AWG Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Hmm. Don’t recall this but will give it a shot. Thanks Be sure to let us know if you fix the problem...good luck!:pilotfly: "There are only two types of aircraft, Fighters and Targets." Doyle "Wahoo" Nicholson [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
tunnel_rat Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 Still not able to fix the problem. I uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers 3 times. Did the windows reset several times but no luck. Used the windows calibration tool several times but no luck Spent hours searching net but not found anything that helps Still no answer from TM. Perhaps this C19 has slowed things down as everyone seems to say good things about their customer service. Installed the stick on my laptop and I am able to replicate the issue so correct me if I'm wrong but that tells me it's a problem with the stick, yes? I'm really bummed as I can't fly or in my case practice. Don't know what to do from here as the return period from where I bought it is over. Any thoughts appreciated and thanks for all the replies Be Well, TR
ilikepie Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) so when you look in the windows joystick properties its all screwed up or is it only in dcs? maybe delete the folder in your User/savedgames and let it recreate it? Edited April 24, 2020 by ilikepie Action After Contemplation
tunnel_rat Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 Just the windows properties or more specifically the windows calibration tool i.e., never centered and it I move the stick the "x" on the windows square goes crazy in all different directions. Say if I pitch up the "x" will move very bottom far right or something similar. In DCS the stick responds but literally no control of the aircraft as the movements are so misaligned.
tunnel_rat Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 Using the TARGET device analyzer here are my numbers with the stick centered: X=31520 Y= 34094 Here is with pitch up X= 29222 Y=65535 Any sort of movement of the stick bring all sorts of aberrant numbers.
tunnel_rat Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 Okay going to try now and delete the config folder..
tunnel_rat Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 Deleted the "config" folder in DCS but still no go. I'm hesitant to take it apart for fear of voiding the warranty and my luck really screw something up.
ilikepie Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 when you say replicate the issue on the laptop, you plug the stick in and it behaves exactly the same way, with completely out of sync movements? If that is whats happening it could be that a wire has become pinched internally and there has been a disconnect in the circuit causing incorrect data to be sent. If it is still under warranty, I'd return it to the place of purchase for testing and replacement. I've had the TMS switch on my stick be faulty out of the box, and view hat on the throttle fail through bad soldering work. For the former, the unit was returned and replaced, the latter was a case of taking it apart and fixing it myself as the unit was 9 years out of warranty. It sounds pretty unusual, especially if it was fine....and then it wasn't. Could have been coincidence that it occurred after playing with calibration Action After Contemplation

I agree with you. Not only was I able to duplicate on my laptop but I did it on another separate hard drive from my gaming hard drive with the same results. Agree, it's the stick and not software related. No response from Thrustmaster which is a little disappointing given most say the CS is good. I was able to work a deal from where I purchased for a refund. Needless to say based upon my TM customer service experience I will not buy another Warthog Joystick or Throttle. Thanks so much for your troubleshooting expertise and continued help. Me, I can't wait to get the refund and purchase another stick and throttle. Any thoughts?
tunnel_rat Posted April 25, 2020 Author Posted April 25, 2020 Hello to all that help me! Just wanted to update you that I was able to work a deal with the seller and get a refund. I'm going to purchase a new stick and throttle. Sadly, I never got a response from Thrustmaster so I'm not going to go with their product(s). I understand we are in trying times but surely some sort of troubleshooting response could of been sent. Oh well bottom line is I really appreciate the help from you all and look forward to flying/practicing again real soon with new stick and throttle. Any suggestions appreciated for new stick and throttle.. :)
ilikepie Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 There is a sub section in the input output forum that cover has some hardware listed. A lot of people seem to like the Virpl gear but from what I've read production is slow and not readily available. Vkb is another. hope you get it sorted, sim time should be enjoyable. Not a chore Action After Contemplation
