jojo Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 If I pre-select TWS and azimuth steering AUTO on OSB13, without L&S target, radar elevation axis become inoperative. I don’t know if it normal of it’s a bug ? If you start to crank after locking a target in TWS without AUTO, you can easily loose the track. Pre-selecting AUTO would ease the work load. It’s logical to not have radar elevation control with L&S target, but why not with clear scope ? Mirage fanatic ! It’s logical to not have radar elevation control with L&S target, but why not with clear scope ? I think you should be able to move it. What I do now is set the radar parameters beforehand in 'DATA' then go to TWS and set it to 'auto', back to RWS and stay there. Once I have everything sorted out and have a plan;) and my primary targets are somewhere around my nose then I go TWS. Hopefully my bandits won't be stacked too far from each other in vertical... then you need a buddy or two:D With AWACS, different story.
maxTRX Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Well, on top of the issue you brought up, I just ran into a random problem with elevation control. After sending bunch of Amraams in 1v4 fight suddenly I wasn't able to move the antenna up or down (15 min into the flight). Both, in RWS and TWS. Reset didn't do anything, switching weapons, modes didn't fix it either. On the next hop everything worked fine.
maxTRX Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I was just doing some Amraam tests firing at R_ne toward unarmed targets. (didn't want to deal with mid course guidance all the way from R_max;)) I ran into this elevation issue again, twice. First time, a simple switch from TWS 'auto' to 'man' fixed it. Second time, I was already in 'man' and I still couldn't change elevation. I cycled the TWS from 'man' to 'auto' then back to 'man' and I was able to move the elevation again... This needs to be looked at. Someone probably reported this already. I'll check the bug forum. This clip shows the entire test. https://youtu.be/8HqYFyZvwBc
