Some help please getting set up

Hi, I just got this, pro version plus chatter and arrio options.

I think it has installed properly, I but have a couple of issues.

First is setting up PTT - Assuming that I need to assign a PTT button to my HOTAS, I have decided it would be the push button on the warthog throttle top hat switch, that we usually use for comms. Primarily using the hornet and viper, so I imagine I would just need 2 options, for comms 1 & 2, correct? In joystick options, I have selected my warthog throttle and it says joystick one is enabled. When I test and press buttons however, nothing happens, just says waiting....

 

Second issue is that when it’s running ( and it seems to be running ok, as I have random chatter in DCS) my F key binds seem to have changed...why is this? ie, F2 opens a web help page for the app instead of external view.

 

Thirdly, when I open the imported viacompro for DCS world profile, I don’t see the same structure as shown in the manual? My first section is extension packs, then I have keyword collections, which is long....I scroll to the end then there is radio control. I don’t see a spoken command or chatter section as in the manual screenshot?

 

Before I go further can someone set me straight?

Welcome to the forum

 

I will have my computer on a bit later to confirm this, but when you go into the list of spoken commands I think you need to scroll up to see the bits you say are missing

Not at my sim pc atm, but the profile edit screen has a button at the bottom that combines most of the commands and pressing that will make it look like the manual.

Greyman is right - you need to click on the grey square (third from the left). When the commands are not grouped, its tooltip should read Click to group by Category (I have just sat at my PC to do this)

This is some kind of initialisation issue - the same thing happens on my Test screen until you press the reset circular arrow to the right of the top waiting. It should then register the button presses

Ok thanks, I have got a response from the joystick after clicking the box, but still don’t see any sections with push to talk in the profile? Taken some screenshots:

 

 

Any ideas regarding the F keys issue?

You're applying list filter, bottom right.

Click the highlighted characters to disable.

Thanks, simple and obvious! I had not touched those, so not sure why they were on.

 

In the profile, are the PTT buttons mapped as shown in the manual? If so good, I see no reason for me to change for now, I have a warthog throttle.

 

Still some weird stuff happening, just now trying to get the PTT applet to appear, I started DCS and in the sim, I had no input from my hotas set up and pressing escape did not bring up the menu. Had to quit using task manager. Still have the issue with my F keys. It looks like when it is running, something is changing the keybinds?

Ok, restart seems to have sorted the strangeness with the F keys and HOTAS, sorry to go off on a confusing tangent.....

However, trying out on a simple mission as suggested in the manual, using easy comms, I can’t get anything to happen. The software is hearing me, see screen grab...... Also, pressing left alt, left ctrl and C does not bring up the applet window with the radio in it......

Ok, spoke too soon.....with the software running, it messes with my F keys still. F1 starts a web page help and other F keys don’t work until I stop running the software. Any ideas?

In terms of the log window you have shown - have you done the voice training as per the manual? It is really worth doing (page 38 onwards)

Just checking - are you running VA as administrator

 

 

Are you running any other software (such as TARGET or Discord) with VA and DCS - not saying it will be the cause of the F key issue, but just trying to get an understanding.

 

 

When you press F1, what web page help does it load?

Hi, I have done the windows voice training....will look at the manual training. No other programs running aside from from trackir and my Logitech and realsimulator software for my other controllers. I will check 1st thing tomorrow what page loads,

Ok, started again this morning and could not duplicate the F keys issue.....

Which is good, but obviously something was going on.....

I am working through the voice training currently, how important is it that the words exactly match - if for example I am training “Attack Mode Pilot” should the recognised phrase have the exact matching capital letters? I am finding it difficult to get it to do this and manually spelling these commands seems to be very clunky?

No need to worry about the capitalisation - as long as the words are recognised.

 

You will almost certainly find that there are a few words you need to add to the Microsoft speech dictionary (for me it has been some of the numbers and some of the airfields - not sure Microsoft wholly believe in a southern UK accent :-)). It will learn and improve as you use it more

 

If the F key issue does re-emerge Make a note of the help page that loads as this will give some clue as to what is going on

Thanks Hornblower, that is a relief regarding the capitals, as nearly every word is taking very tedious multiple attempts , I am only on B and slowly losing the will to live.......

Ok....have got to this stage, when training the “dart” command, windows seemed to think I wanted to go to desktop mode and instead of picking up the trading words, started trying to suggest things like scroll etc and I could not figure how to stop this....

So thought I would finish the session, exit and the start again, picking up where I left off.....

However, I now have this dialogue:

When I try and press the edit pencil on the profile as instructed, nothing happens.....I don’t want lose the last two hours work!!!!!

What should I do?

I am having another stab at doing the training and can’t get the config window to show? It shows it opening in voice attack:

 

But it’s not on my desktop?

 

What would cause this? As you can see, I keyboard shortcuts enabled.

 

Re the problem in the post before, I think I managed to save the changes as instructed, however, when I clicked done, the window kept re appearing, and in the end, I had to close using task manager. Now with the above issue, I can’t carry on the training as the config window is not showing.....

 

There seems to be some random and strange behaviour doing various things, ( F key behaviour yesterday, and problems as described today....) do you think uninstalling and starting again may help?

I have tried hard re start of the PC twice, still same thing happening, VA starts fine, everything looks ok , config window does not appear, but shows as opening in the VA events box.

Yes, I had it working earlier today, now, it does not appear........

 

This mornings post, it was working and I started the voice training. Then I had the save the changes issue where I could not shut the window and then after restarting everything, now, I can’t access the applet again.

Keyboard shortcuts off would be a red circle and line in front of the keyboard symbol on the VA main window. If none of these fix it for you come back to me or e-mail Hollywood directly at support@vaicompro.com

 

 

 

Also, I notice from the screenshots you put up that unrecognised speech delay is set to 250 in the VA options - this should be set to 0 according to the VAICOM manual (unless using VSPX when it should be set to 700).
