Honez Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Hi guys, I did a search and couldn't find anything. I'm trying to build a mission in MP where our group bombs a group of bridges at night. In order to make it easier for the flight to find the bridge in the dark I wanted to have the FLIR lock on to the WP on each target. How do I do that? I have seen it done in other missions but don't know how they are doing it.
Darcwaynard Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Create waypoint over target area in mission editor or get coordinates from f10 map and enter them in the jet. Make sure waypoint altitude is set to ground level. Call up FLIR on a DDI. Select waypoint on HSI and press osb next to WPDSG. Flir will slew to target location. Edit: This is assuming you're using Hornet. Honez Posted May 15, 2020 Author Posted May 15, 2020 I put the WP exactly on the target many times thinking that would do it but the FLIR doesn't slew to it. I was hoping there is a place in the editor to put the coordinates for the flight so when they select the WP it slews. I'm thinking your comment about it having to be in the jet is the answer.
Catweedle Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 For ground targets make sure the WP altitude is set to ground level. Just put a zero into the altitude field, the ME will adjust it accordingly.
Darcwaynard Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 (edited) Setting it in the jet or in the editor makes no difference. As I mentioned in my first comment make sure you set altitude to ground level or the flir is going to look in the sky somewhere. This can be done in the editor by entering "0" as altitude and when you click away it will set the alt to whatever altitude above sea level the target is at. You can also check the altitude on the F10 map and enter it manually as well either in the editor or in the aircraft. Simply selecting the waypoint will not slew the flir to it you have to press WPDSG on either the HSI or the SA page. Hope this helps Sent from my SM-A530W using Tapatalk Edited May 17, 2020 by Darcwaynard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Amd Fx 8350 4.3 GHz - MSi Gtx 1060 6gb - 16gb DDR3 A-10C - AV8B - F-5E - Mig-21 - FC3 - CA - UH-1H - Black Shark - AJ3-37 - M-2000C - F-16C Viper - F-86F - Spitfire - Fw-190 - F/A-18C - F-14 - Normandy - NTTR - Persian Gulf
Honez Posted May 17, 2020 Author Posted May 17, 2020 Putting a (0) in the WP altitude worked! I'm good now, thanks for the guidance.
