melchionda Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 (edited) Hi, My son's PC has a 512GB SSD Drive which is his C drive and a second 2TB HDD which we want to use for large games and media files. When I installed DCS on his machine instead of doing a default location installation (which would have put it on the 512 GB C drive) I put it on the larger 2TB HDD. The installation is now complete. Unfortunately now when I try to open DCS it appears to be looking for downloaded files and not finding them.. (a modal pops up with a progress bar that is moving and some text that says its "Looking for downloaded files" I let that run for a long time but it never found anything. There is a CANCEL button on that modal. I click it and it closes the modal but it also closes the action of opening DCS. Questions... 1.) Does it sound like I did something wrong related to the installation? If so what do you think? 2.) Is it possible to install DCS on a secondary drive like we have done? 3.) If so how do you get DCS to find the downloaded files (if any) or cancel the search without canceling opening DCS? Thanks for your help! Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 1. Did you move the installation directory AFTER you installed it If so, your registry might need to be edited so Windows knows where to look. 2. Yes of course. I never install anything else than Windows itself and drivers on C:\ and I haven't done that for decades now. That way, I can safely format C:\ if there's a problem and reinstall Windows without losing any of my data. 3. I never ran into that problem before. As far as I know, DCS doesn't even need any registry keys as long as you have shortcuts pointing to the proper location: I have used DCS before while I installed it with a previous Windows, if that makes sense.
