AGM-62 Walleye II

Hello guys

 

I am learning that bomb, I think I understood all the methods to use it but some details I don't understand, technical details..

 

OK so the AGM-62 Walleye II

 

Some facts I guess I understood :

 

 

1) This bomb uses the contrast on a TV feed to lock a target.

 

2) With the datalink/13, the bomb is guided by the D/L instruction (while the pilot uses the TDC to adjust the way)

 

3) this bomb is not a missile so it requires high altitude and speed to reach its target

 

The thing I don't get :

 

a)

the method to use that bomb with a designated waypoint (SA/WPDSG) , was it an official way to use that bomb ? or it's a DCS hack thing

Same question with the litening II pod.

 

b)

When we get a lock thanks to the contrast , why the MAP (missile axis position) square is not on it ? The MAP is supposed to be the head seeker, so the lock is not made by the head seeker?
