randomTOTEN Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 1. I can find no video evidence of this signal being a part of the launch process. 2. There is currently no consequence for users that fail to raise the launch bar without prompting. 3. In the real manual (that I can find) the pilot is instructed to raise the launch bar after being given the "run up engines" signal, and after setting power MIL or MAX. The current signal breaks this order of events. 4.The real manual cautions pilots against retracting the bar before the aircraft is tensioned: "WARNING: Movement of the launch bar switch to RETRACT prior to aircraft being fully tensioned may result in a mispositioned (sic) launch bar and subsequent launch bar/shuttle separation during catapult launch." 5. The catapult shuttle is already placing tension on the launch bar at this point and that force is what seats the bar in the shuttle. There is no movement when the pilot places the switch in retract. 6. Other important hand signals are missing from the process, and this would be a good opportunity to replacement. Thanks! 1
