norman99 Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 (edited) I'm practicing Case III recoveries from the provided mission in the PG. First recovery went well, OK pass with _HIC_ _LOIC_ which was a little contradictory, but that's another issue. Relaunched and boltered on the second attemp. Running low on gas, I went to the tanker instead of remaining in the bolter pattern, but I didn't cancel any approach (is this even possible?). After refueling to 1K above max landing weight, I recalled inbound, and received a clearance and push time of 28. Problem was the current time was 38, so a 50 min hold! I thought this might have been due to not canceling my previous approach, so I canceled inbound, waited a min, and call inbound again, only to get the same time of 28 again. Seems the commence time is getting screwed up somewhere. I'm not sure if it's due to the bolter, running off to the tanker unannounced, or a combination of both. My first two approaches were great, with hold times of between 5-10 min, It's just the last that played up. Anyway, I ignored the time, pushed after 1 hold, and completed the approach with a beautiful dawn sky. Edited May 31, 2020 by norman99
norman99 Posted May 31, 2020 Author Posted May 31, 2020 I can add a track file if it helps, though it’s quite lengthy.
Sierra99 Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 We're there AI in the pattern? danep Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Did you ever figure this out? Push times seem to be almost random: sometimes too soon to actually establish an approach, but more often so late that it's grueling.
norman99 Posted March 31, 2021 Author Posted March 31, 2021 In general the push times seem appropriate to me. Usually with 10-15 min of holding by the time I arrive in the marshal, requiring 2 laps of the hold on average. This is also with anything from 5-10 other AI aircraft in the sequence, both in front and behind me. Occasionally I get an odd time, but not often. How it's actually calculated I haven't determined yet.
