majapahit Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 My F18 TPOD laser locking seems to work fine on a MP server in good daylight. Made a (supercarrier, not used to making missions) mission Caucasus 8/10 clouds, June rain, ground targets in valley just below dam. Lock a target there, MAV-E slaves OK, trigger laser, no lock. Slave to dam wall, lock, trigger laser, MAV-E does lock. Have tried this several dozens of times. Circling around slaving to any ground patch, buildings, laser on, MAV-E locks. Back to ground targets, no lock. Bad light? The targets are several static helicopters, trucks but also an AI helicopter, AI AAA and an AI AAA truck. Anyone else?F18 MAVE not locking ground targets TPOD laser but solids OK.trk | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
majapahit Posted June 1, 2020 Author Posted June 1, 2020 (edited) SOLVED *********************** =============================== Some sort of not quite a bug. What seems to happen is that the ground layers near the base of the Dam GRID KN53 are not quite actual ground level in data, perhaps because there is some definition complexity near that dam. One can visually see the targets and objects, but I suspect the terrain data overlays and blocks the visuals in this spot and the ordinance cannot lock because it cannot sense the objects where they visually are. Moving the objects a couple of hundred yards to the south away form the dam, next to a river and a road on flat terrain, makes all the locks work again in that particular area. Who would have guessed. That spot is chart draw, ah well.
