I am just starting to play around with the F-16 in Instant Action Free Flight. I have noticed that the pitch ladder and flight path marker drift around on the HUD. Sometimes they are skewed off to the left of center and then they drift over to the right of center.

This is during Instant Action flights, no ground start-up process involved with INS alignment.

Is there a way to get the pitch ladder and FPM to stabilize in the center of the HUD?

That is called wind. The attitude bars simply follow your flight path marker. The flight path marker shows where your flight computer predicts your flight path to be. If you have wind your flight path marker won't be centered in your HUD since your plane won't be flying straight in comparison to your nose position. If you want your flight path marker to be centered with your nose switch DRIFT C/O on your ICP.

Have a nice flight

Great, thanks for the tip. I'm about ready to dive into the F-16 manual and start learning all the systems. Night & day difference between this and the old F-100 I flew 50 years ago.

In your UFC, there is three way switch (Drift C/O, Norm and Warn reset)

Just use Drift C/O if you want everything in center corrected.

Don't use Drift C/O since it doesn't represent where your aircraft moving.

When using NORM, FPM and other sway away from center, Just as mentioned earlier it happens due to wind. It helps landing following FPM and Bombings and stuffs when in windy conditions because it shows true FPM.

Thank you. Those were fun years and a great airplane to have the privilege to fly.
