richtosh Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Hi all, Pretty much as the title says. I have an intel i7-9700 and an RTX 2070 super which between them handle most things fine. However, will that pair have have the grunt to run an HP Reverb v2 pro? I currently have an Oculus Rift S. Do I really need to shell out £1000 upgrading my card just to achieve that? Thank, Rich

eaglecash867 Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Its been my experience that you actually get better performance with the Reverb, due to the fact that you don't need as much supersampling (or, alternatively, DCS PD) to make it look good. I went from a Rift CV1 to a Reverb and was surprised to see that I actually got better performance because I no longer needed my DCS PD set at 2.0. I was able to lower it to 1.0, which got me better performance. Its the supersampling that is the real performance killer. Wali763 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Also have a 2070S and owned a Rift S and Reverb. Also had an Index. The Reverb seems (relativly) rather undemanding compared to the other two with their specific required settings. Rift S with PD1.0 runs smoothest. But with the Rift S I used 1,3PD and with the Reberb 100%SS (so kind of PD1,0) which seemed fps-wise not too different. On the Reverb I had some stutters once in a while (no new frames rendered for a moment, maybe up to 0,5s) though, that I did not know why. The Index on the other hand seemd to require a bit more than the 120%SS it set it to have good fps. But with 200% (where a visible difference started to show) fps dropped quite a bit. But Im not sure, if one can take the fps on the Reberb G1 directly to G2. I guess, we will have to wait to find out.
