miromurin Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Hello, I noticed it is nearly impossible to trim aircraft after hard maneuvers or even after cat shot from carrier when I am going black out. It doesn't happen every time. But when it happen I can't trim the plane "on speed" for landing. Trim behavior looks too sensitive around "on speed". Most of the approach I am too fast or too slow. Difference between this two is just 1 or 2 trim cliks. Anybody else noticed that?
Shaemus ODonnelly Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Make sure you turn off the autopilot and switch on pitch SAS. I never ran into any trim issues that werent related to those 2 things.
miromurin Posted June 9, 2020 Author Posted June 9, 2020 I am sure it is not this. As I said it happen randomly after hard maneuvers or black out start from boat
eatthis Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 do you mean auto trim or manual? or both?? try using autothrottle and see if it trims then 7700k @5ghz, 32gb 3200mhz ram, 2080ti, nvme drives, valve index vr
miromurin Posted June 12, 2020 Author Posted June 12, 2020 Does F-14 have auto trim? I mean manual. But now I think this problem could be related to INS misalignment after pulling too many Gs. Because I trim according to velocity vector and E bracket which can show some errors
Shaemus ODonnelly Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 The Kitty has some forms of auto trim. It automatically trims against pitching moment and the balooning effect of flaps for example and the autopilot without anything else selected is an attitude hold system, which behaves similar to fly by wire. I dont know how manual trim works in the F-14 but i am guessing it just moves the sticks neutral point, which would be independent of the INS. In my experience, the E-Bracket in the F-14 is calculated from AoA-Sensor data, not INS. I shot my INS to pieces multiple times and the bracket still worked. There are planes out there that use both systems to calculate AoA but i suspect the F-14 isnt one of them. I'm sorry i cant help, i have no idea what it could be.
eatthis Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 Does F-14 have auto trim? I mean manual. But now I think this problem could be related to INS misalignment after pulling too many Gs. Because I trim according to velocity vector and E bracket which can show some errors flipping tha ap switch on gives you a kind of autotrim, do it and let go of the stick and itl stay there. downside is it gets funky beyond something like 70 degs roll (cant remember the number) and gives you a deadzone around centre which i dont like 7700k @5ghz, 32gb 3200mhz ram, 2080ti, nvme drives, valve index vr
Banzaiib Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 i've noticed that she needs trim after some maneuvering, but i just chalk it up to she's trimmed differently at different indicated airspeeds, which tend to change a lot from cruising to just after yankin' and bankin'
