Nealius Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 Recently when flying low and fast on many modules, I can see this wavy distortion or shimmering along the leading edge of the wings and anything protruding like pitot probes, refuel probes, or guns. It only seems to happen in VR, but I can't capture it. For some reason, the distortion only appears in the headset. It does not appear in the WMR mirror and OBS recordings don't capture it either.
Bobik2002 Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 It's vr smoothing aws I think. if you have for example 15 fps it try render fake images to smooth picture to 45fps. There you have link about it https://developer.oculus.com/documentation/native/pc/asynchronous-spacewarp/ Ryzen 9 5900x | 32GB DDR4 | RTX 3090 | 32GB RAM

Concur with Bobik. Probably caused by ASW/Reprojection depending on your HMD. It starts to come up, along with ghosting of passing objects when you have other settings turned up just a little too high. What kind of VR HMD do you have? EVGA Z690 Classified, Intel i9 12900KS Alder Lake processor, MSI MAG Core Liquid 360R V2 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler, G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 64GB DDR5 6400 memory, EVGA RTX3090 FTW3 Ultra 24GB video card, Samsung 980PRO 1TB M2.2280 SSD for Windows 10 64-bit OS, Samsung 980PRO 2TB M2.2280 SSD for program files, LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray burner. HOTAS Warthog, Saitek Pedals, HP Reverb G2. Partridge and pear tree pending.
Nealius Posted June 15, 2020 Author Posted June 15, 2020 (edited) I thought I turned off ASW in my SteamVR settings, but that file is constantly being reset at random. Starting to piss me off a bit. I run Odyssey Plus. Just confirmed, I have autoreprojection set to "disabled" in the default VR settings file. Edited June 15, 2020 by Nealius
