-NMS- Ikaros Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 Guys i was wondering if this magnificent jet is easy to fly a full IFR approach with the given HSI (Is this the only NAV instrument in the Mirage?) In all other aircrafts i've flown the HSI have Omni Bearing Selector (OBS) and Course Deviation Indicator (CDI) for a more precise selection and navigation of radials and the given instrument is as secondary named Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI) Have you tried instruments only flying a published approach, is it possible with the given instrument?
=36=Witcher Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 Of course it is. The back of the arrow will always tell the radial you're in. It's all about putting that to the desired radial.
jojo Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Touche got: - VOR/ ILS - TACAN - IDN But no CDI on IDN, you to do without it. :smilewink: But it's true it's an interceptor operating from air bases with ATC to perform GCA (Ground Control Approach) to guide the pilot on axis and glide path if need be. I bet it's easier to do without CDI when the ATC is telling you when to turn on final, "2° left...1° right... It would be cool to have proper GCA in DCS. :smilewink: Mirage fanatic ! Have you tried instruments only flying a published approach, is it possible with the given instrument? I'll admit that I only use the HUD display for IFR approaches (and if we're being honest, I usually use autopilot, too), but the ADI has needles for the course deviation and glideslope. So using just instruments is at least theoretically possible; I suppose I should add that to my DCS World To-Do List.
