Flying aircraft from neutral coalition (question for specialists)

Hi,

I started over a new mission in the ME, and was really surprised by the existence of the new button (COMBAT <> ALL). Now the neutral coalition is back, thanks ED for this really nice step!

A big question came up:

When creating a new mission in ME, I can fly aircraft of NEUTRAL coalition, which is fine.

I have a very big older mission, that I started with 2.5.3 (I think), and that mission had been changed 45 times (now I am at version 1.45) during the time until today. The total effort of mission editing was about 200 hours in total.

In this older mission I cannot fly NEUTRAL aircraft (which are already existing in the mission) using the latest OB update, no matter what I do.

I can add new groups, but the configuration of the older groups would then get lost, including all entries in the triggers.

Is it necessary to start over new (which would not be a solution), or do I have the chance to manually edit the mission file somehow?

Just for your information: at a certain stage during the last year it was necessary to manually edit the mission file by hand, because I was not able to connect warehouses to each other using the ME. I solved it by manually editing the mission file, and the warehouse in the mission works now again (but I still cannot change ANYTHING regarding warehouses in using the ME).

I got a fundamental understanding of the structure of the mission files, so I might be doing this again, but want to hear your opinion about the issue.

Thanks for any hints on this!

So, have you actually placed a new neutral playable group into this older mission? It didnt really make sense what you said about adding new groups breaking something, triggers always dynamically update their names and targets if you change the names of either groups or the trigger name. You can see for yourself, but before you mess around, copy the mission in windows (not the ME) as a backup. Any time you save a mission in the ME, any new stuff (or bugs) will get introduced. From the copied miz, go change things and see.

Thanks for this input in this more complex thing!

Of course I know there is a "backup function" for miz-files ;)

In 2.5.3 I had NEUTRAL groups working, AI were flying it (country Switzerland, not part of RED or BLUE).

In 2.5.5 I had to change them to BLUE coalition, since I had to change some parts of their waypoints, and also loadouts. DCS at that time didn't support NEUTRALS and the ME killed the coalition once a click was made on such a unit, it immediately changed to BLUE.

Now, in 2.5.6 I thought I can change them to NEUTRAL again, and fly them (giving CLIENTs access). Note: I CAN assign existing groups to NEUTRAL coalition, but CANNOT fly them.

Only if I now create new NEUTRAL units I can fly them, but I am interested in using the existing units (since their waypoints (many), and entries in the triggers (many) are there).

If I would replace them by removing and re-building new groups, all information was lost!!!

This might happend during switching from 2.5.3 to 2.5.4 with the warehouses.

Wrong alert, this one is on my end.

The warehouse - for a reason I don't know - had no aircraft left for me.

This was the reason why I could add new NEUTRAL aircraft (put them just on the map) and fly them, they were in flight.

But from ground didn't work, since the warehouse had "0" for all aircraft.

How come? I guess the warehouse has been changed with the new updates, or at least the list of aircraft was updated ... hmm ...
