mvsgas Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 YF-17? To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
topol-m Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Ok since there`s been 3 pages with guesses from Mig-21, through F-15, to Rafale (that`s how i like to see this thread - alive :D ) it`s time to limit your search. First clue: this is an experimental aircraft. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
topol-m Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) No. And F-35 is not an experimental aircraft. ;) Nothing new :D It should be new cause most of the guesses were about aircraft in service. Edited December 2, 2009 by topol-m [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
lawndartleo Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Does anybody look at pictures of aircraft before pulling the trigger?
topol-m Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 ^^^ Sometimes i wonder the same :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
zakobi Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) Absolutely not! :D After all, there is a reason why topol-m is so good... Edited December 2, 2009 by zakobi
topol-m Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) Another clue: you are looking for an experimental aircraft that made it`s first flight in the 80s. Edit: This will be the second and last clue. There weren`t thousands of experimental aircraft created in 10 years period. Edited December 3, 2009 by topol-m [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
topol-m Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Yes that`s it! Good job. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Griffin Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 A bit different this time. What is this mechanic doing? (Mvsgas isn't allowed to answer. :D)
topol-m Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) Ehmm cleaning the canopy? :P BTW that binary coding of "riddle" was nice. Still I was hoping the answer itself was coded but well... :D Edited December 3, 2009 by topol-m [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Griffin Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I've inserted a clue of somekind into the name a couple of times. Not cleaning the canopy in the same sense.
Griffin Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) Static discharge? Correct! Hornet's canopy accumulates the static electricity and it has to be discharged manually after flight with that thing (swab?). That wire is the grounding cable of the stick attached to one of the Hornet's grounding points. Heard some stories of pilots who forgot about that and touched the canopy while climbing out.
