Kaz Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008  I'm having some difficulties with Lock On (Gold) and my OS (Vista). Everytime I try to start the game a Runtime Error pops up telling me that lock on has been terminated an unusual way :music_whistling: (D'oh) Anyways I hope that someone can help me out here, because I'm dying to get flying... Safe landings Niels
GGTharos Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Have you patched to 1.12b? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Kaz Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 Nope, can't say that I have. I just reinstalled Lock On without Flaming Cliffs and I still get the same Runtime Error. I'll try to update the patch 1.12:thumbup: Thanks, mate - I hope it works... Best regards Niels
GGTharos Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Good luck! :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Kaz Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 Right! That seems to have taken care of some problems - but now I face another one. It wants to install aditional libraries to my computer, when I click ok, it says 'error' and that I need to have administrator privileges on my computer... It's enough to make a grown man cry....Can you perhaps help me out on this one geez?? Any suggestions? Best regards, and thank you for your help so far Niels
SuperKungFu Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Please tell us your installation process First and foremost, its best to install Lock On NOT in the program files of vista so install it outside which would just be in C: drive. Second, the installation process should be like this 1.00 original Lock on (no patch) 1.1 Flaming Cliffs and finally 1.12b (make sure its the b version and its for the cd version) This worked perfectly for me using vista and lock on gold. It should work the same for you. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Aeroscout Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 ...I need to have administrator privileges on my computer... Soooooo... give you're self administrator privileges. Right click on the lockon icon, hit properties, go to the compatibility tab and check "run as admin." Of course...... If you want to solve ALL vista/lockon problems, see my sig.;) DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
Kaz Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 I'll try to reinstall as soon as I get back from work and take from the top. Cheers SuperKungFu. I did install it the way you described but I'll give it another go. (Seem to have read somewhere that some Gold edition CD's were recalled due to malfunction - wonder if I have been that unlucky, as to get one of those here in Copenhagen?) Thanks Aeroscout - I just found out that you can force yourself as a administrator on Vista. Guess you learn something ne every day  New Vista user and Lock On Newbee.. Can it get any worse :megalol: Anyhows, Cheers guys thanks for your help... Best regards, Niels
Excelsior Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Of course...... If you want to solve ALL vista/lockon problems, see my sig.;) Hope you get it sorted Kaz. There is a sound bug (IIRC XP/X-Fi cards suffered from that also) but apart for that you should be ok. Excelsior Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I am beginning to understand Aeroscouts sig :music_whistling: I too am beginning to understand, but with the reason why Vista is getting a bad name. A competent person following the correct installation procedure suffers little or, in some cases, no problems whatsoever.
