I'd like to purchase the download version of Flaming Cliffs so as to not have to insert the disc into the drive for the copy protection to work. Just got a new machine with a lot more power.

Is is required to have Lomac installed first before installing FC? I.E. can I just install FC buy itself?

Does FC have all the aircraft, missions etc of Lockon?

Trying to fire out what is required. Thanks.

This is the installation process

1.00 original Lock On

(no patch)

1.1 Flaming cliffs

and 1.12a patch (note: there also a 1.12b patch but that's usually for Vista, if you have XP, just install the a version. Plus, when you get the patch, make sure its the right one. There's one for the cd and one for the download version)

So yes, you have to have the original Lock On for FC to work.

With the download version of FC will the Star copy protection just have to be activated once? I travel up to half the year and do not wish to carry a disk, at times do not have access to the internet, so the idea of a self contained version is of interest. Did I understand correctly that the downloaand and installation of FC will appliy all patches to Lomac as well?

Thanks for your time.

To my understanding (since I only have the cd version), you only activate it once - unless starforce detects a major hardware change to your pc then it might ask you to activate it again. I also believe you can back up your activation key.

You don't have to install anything after the original Lock On cd, just FC. But after FC, you need to apply the 1.12a patch.

SKF....thanks for the replies. I just got a new laptop but decided I am going to upgrade the processor and will receive it in the next couple of weeks(can never have enough power)......Do you think that would cause a problem with the Star copy protection re a download version of FC? Just loacated an old version of LockOn but haveno idea which version it is. Thanks, Dave
