upyr1 Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 I was thinking, with the Marianas coming out, what do you think are the most important World War II ship classes to have? I'd rather have DCS : Fleet ops I figure for the allies we would need to represent some of the classes used to support the overlord landings https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Allied_warships_in_the_Normandy_landings#Monitors I'd also toss in the Iowas and some CVs- may be some CVEs and CVLs. I would identify the models by class type and refit date. With ship names being liveries So a World War II Iowa would be Iowa-class battleship 1943 while the model for the 1980s would be Iowa-class battleship 1982 For the Japanese the minimum I'd want Shōkaku-class carriers, the Yamato for the capital ships pluss the Kagero-class destoryers and long lived crusiers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Japanese_Navy_ships_and_war_vessels_in_World_War_II#Heavy_cruisers and the Bismark and pocket battleships for the Germans. Along with Leipzig-class cruisers- selected since one was renamed the Admiral Makarov and used by the Soviet Navy until 1960 Z17 class destoyers would be a good choice for the same reason
