Mike_Romeo Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 (edited) After some test i figured out that you can jettison them only under mach 0.8 Why is that so ? I got in so many fights and merges now with them attached cuz I coudnt jettison them. Befor I enter a fight, am allways over mach 0.9 Not even the emergency jettison (panic) button could free me from that extra weight if I am over mach 0.8. Is that a bug or so ? In other modules (like F-15) its possible to jettesion them even at mach 2 and its not mentioned in the manual or chucksguide. I am not a expert but this seems very unrealitic to not been able to throw the tanks away over mach 0.8 What are your thoughts on that? PS: (Not sure if you can see that but I am spaming the weapon release button in the track)JF-17 jettision fueltanks.trk Edited August 16, 2020 by Mike_Romeo My skins
J20Stronk Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Jettison limits are modeled. M 0.8 or 450kts CAS
VC Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 As far as I understand it's a realistic limit but can be a bit annoying. You need to plan ahead. My tactic now is to take my first BVR shot with tanks on, turn cold then judge my fuel state and the situation. If I'm safe and I have tons of fuel I would repeat. If it looks like things are getting heated or the tanks are nearly empty anyway, I re-engage with a high yo-yo or zoom climb so I'm slow enough at the top to drop the tanks but not wasting the speed I have, instead storing it as altitude and diving to accelerate for the next attack. Also just standard BVR advice, if you're below Mach 1 you're too slow. VC =X51= Squadron is recruiting! X51 website: https://x51squadron.com/ Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/d9JtFY4
