So something strange is happening with the speed brake on the F18. It was fine for as long as I have been playing DCS, but for whatever reason is glitched now.

I have a 2 position toggle switch on my Virpil throttle assigned for the speed break. One position is assigned to "EXTEND", and the other position is assigned to "RETRACT/OFF". Previously it worked great. Any time I flip the switch forward, the brake extends all the way, and when flipped back it fully retracts. I don't care about modulating the brake, and I don't need to fumble with holding down a button.

Now, the break will extend, but will not retract at all. The only way I can retract it is to assign a keyboard button to "RETRACT" or "RETRACT/OFF". The physical button is working fine, and I'm able to assign it to the "RETRACT/OFF" function fine, but when flying it won't do what it is assigned to.

Anyone encounter anything similar?

I think you need set button on throttle as hold not pulse.

Not sure I follow. It's a two-position toggle switch, that holds in either the forward or aft position. I have had it set up the same way for months now, and it has always worked. It just seemed to stop working on the most recent open beta release.

I have a pair of buttons on my joystick assigned to Ctrl B and Shift B to retract/extend the speed brake. Notice here that I'm using the "RETRACT" command, rather than the "RETRACT/OFF" command. But I think Bobik2002 is correct: The buttons need to continuously sent the command, rather than sending it once. A single "press" will fully retract the brake, but you have to press and hold to extend.

Also, moving the switch aft should extend the speed brake. Forward retracts it. (as far as I understand from the real Hornet).

It is a hold switch. It's the pinky switch on a virpl throttle, and the button is contantly activated in either position. I have tried using "RETRACT" as well, with no luck. It's very strange as I havent changed any configuration, but it just stopped working after the beta update.

I'm going to try it in the stable version and see if it works there.

It seems that there is an animation of the speed brake switch on the throttle that needs to finish before you can initiate next command.
