Motomouse Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 (edited) Flying this in a HP Reverb: Mission 1: Finally I passed the first mission. The barometric altimeter readout seems to be incorrect during turns. I had to pay attention to the outside and the instruments at the same time to stay in the tight limits for the mission. Fun, but during the last week I stopped all my other flight routines till I made it through this quite difficult mission ;-) [Edit: I mixed up the barometric and the radar altimeter. Quite natural the radar altimeter readout changes in the turn.] Edited September 5, 2020 by Motomouse VIC-20@1.108 MHz, onboard GPU, 5KB RAM, μυωπία goggles, Competition Pro HOTAS
Motomouse Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 (edited) Mission 2 (Follow a flight path, Time on Target): On the second attempt I got again a message about deviation that ended the mission. I was on the correct flight path, but the instructor complained about the flight level (200m) although the barometric altimeter showed the correct value. I think there is probably a problem with the altimeter, but in VR I do not know how to compare the readout with the exact flight level. I have fun nevertheless and I am looking forward to my next attempts on this mission. [Edit: My mistake. I mixed up barometric and radar altimeter.] Edited September 5, 2020 by Motomouse VIC-20@1.108 MHz, onboard GPU, 5KB RAM, μυωπία goggles, Competition Pro HOTAS
ED Team SL PAK Posted September 3, 2020 ED Team Posted September 3, 2020 Try using a radio altimeter (radar altimeter). This is a low-altitude flight. It is safer to use a radio altimeter.
Motomouse Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 (edited) Thanks for your advice. Third attempt Mission 2: It is not the altimeter readout, there is a bug in mission 2. The instructor calls for 200 meters in the second leg and third leg, but you have to fly 300 meters to meet his expectations (He starts to complain when the altitude is less than 250 meters in these legs, starting around the course correction point) This time I finished the flight but did not meet the time over target requirements. With knowledge about the altitude bug, now I am prepared to pass this check flight on the next try. [Edit: This is not a bug in the mission. I mixed up barometric and radio altimeter. You have to match the barometric altimeter with the instructor call for 200 meters. In the second and third leg when the barometric altimeter readout is 200 meters the radar altimeter shows about 300 meters. This campaign is gold. I improve my flying skill and systems knowledge with every flight.] Edited September 5, 2020 by Motomouse VIC-20@1.108 MHz, onboard GPU, 5KB RAM, μυωπία goggles, Competition Pro HOTAS

Motomouse Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 Mission 3 (bombing run): I need some preparation for this flight. Looking forward to this mission. VIC-20@1.108 MHz, onboard GPU, 5KB RAM, μυωπία goggles, Competition Pro HOTAS
Motomouse Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 Mission 3 (bombing run): Ongoing preparations, set up the controls for the L39ZA version of the plain, set up a training mission, getting a grip on the weapon systems.
