Finnster Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 (edited) HI Guys, I've only put a few hours into DCS so far, mostly in the Spitfire IX, and it's been pretty darn cool. I have to thank the people who put the manual together and members of this forum for many useful help files and tips. Especially Chuck's guide- very nicely done. Now, I've got the Joystick working reasonbly well along side the ch pedals and throttle, but it's much more unpredictable and twichy than has been my experience in my own aircraft. I'm sure that's mostly a matter of my learning how to optimize the axis curve. Even so, I haven't had any trouble taking off or landing. (It's not unlike my Luscombe was- keep your feet dancing on the pedals and don't stop flying 'til you stop the engine at your hangar!) Here's my wish list: 1.What would really help tho' is to have a more visible slip indicator and G meter in the hud. It could work like the yaw string in a glider, or like the ball in a regular slip indicator. I've searched in the manual, on the net, and in these forums and I haven't seen an option for this. In real life, I really didn't have to check the ball much, because I could feel a slip or skid in my butt on the seat! In VR.. it's close; I do get some sensation of slipping, but there are no physical sensations to tip me off. In combat, of course, it's essential to keep the ball centered for accurate shooting and precise flying. Is there any way to add some sort of slip and g indicator in the hud? 2. Maybe an airspeed number too? It's difficult for me to always tell when I'm getting slow- or too fast- because there is no feedback in the stick (in real life it gets sloppy as you get slow) nor can I detect in pre-stall buffet in the Spit 9. (again tho' I'm new and may not have all the settings adjust correctly). As in real life in the Spitfire, very little stick movement is needed to apply a LOT of control motion on the elevator. I can't read the instruments too well, (ok at all) in my VR headset- it's an original Oculus rift. I have a better one on order, but I'd still like to have some visual clues to replace the physical ones we're missing. Anyhow, sorry for the long post. I hope I'm not offending anyone by posting here with so little experience in the game. (I saw a thread where another new person was absolutely slammed by some veteran poster for having the gall to post- ouch.) cheers Finnster Edited September 16, 2020 by Finnster added clarity to the introductory statement. correct spelling
Svsmokey Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Welcome to the forum ! I have yet to try it myself , but some say the haptic pads (Jetseat , Forcefeel ) work for pre-stall buffet in DCS , and i think slips/skids as well . Old Microsoft Sidewinder FF1 , FF2 sticks provide force feedback in DCS . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
