It depends on the mission. Many missions include them, and the information will be in the briefing. You'll have to tune the appropriate radio to the frequency listed in the briefing, and then find "JTAC" in the radio command list. This is typically the 4th option IIRC. You can google "9-line CAS briefing" to find some helpful documents on what he's saying actually means.

If you're creating your own mission, place a ground unit and give them a FAC waypoint task. There are a few options and it's best to just explore them a bit.

I found the AFAC difficult to work with in the Georgian Hammer campaign. He'd drop a mark 1200 or so feet from the actual target, in the middle of an enemy tank formation, and it's up to you to figure out which 3 tanks he meant, all while looking out for MG and ZSU fire. That is, if you can even find the mark before it stops smoking. If you use anything but what he wants, or come in from any other direction, he'll call you off, and should you actually hit the target, he'll chew you out for not being cleared hot. It wouldn't be so bad if his choice of both weapons and attack direction wasn't questionable at best.

Then again, what did I expect from a Predator driver? :)

Yeah i found the fully interactive JTAC hard to satisfy too so i just use this in my custom practice missions.

He doesn't yell at me about anything lol

The interactive guy is a fun challenge but not when i'm still trying to learn how to quickly and efficiently deploy weapons.

I thought it was a new thing for the A-10 II because it's in the store description, but it is just the already existing JTAC

I was expecting something like RIO to work with.

JTAC doesn't even recognise the new weapons.
