meltingSnowdrift Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 The AGM-84A does not work at all. When launched from an aircraft, it briefly descends normally and then begins increasingly large and fast roll oscillations, resulting in loss of control of the missile followed by the missile crashing into the water. The Kh-31P is able to hit a target, but not in the intended way. Shortly after launch, it ceases to produce thrust and coasts to the target while losing speed. It typically hits the target at subsonic speeds. Attached is a mission file containing only AI units which, when run, should verify both of my claims.ASCM problems.miz
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 14, 2020 ED Team Posted October 14, 2020 We have reported the AGM-84A issue, the kh-31P is behaving as intended but I will ask the team to check. thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? BrzI Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 I am not so sure... The Kh-31P should behave in similar fashion to the Kh-31A. The propulsion part is more or less the same. Solid fuel burn for initial acceleration followed by ramjet engine for sustained speed to target. Of course - the guidance systems are different. Kh-31P should be able to sustain cruising speeds similar to the sea-skimming Kh-31A. However, in this currently dumbed-down version the ramjet engine does not work. Hence the missile loses speed as soon as the solid fuel engine burns out. In fact, it becomes a dumb ballistic missile. Aside from the fact that this reduces the speed on final approach to target (and reduces the POK) it also significantly shortens the range. This has been an issue for a long time. I am surprised it has not been fixed.
