airmad Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Hi all. I purchased Lock on several weeks ago.For some reason it crashes (interrupted by ''lock on has stopped working bla bla''). I tried playing it without the Logitech attack 3 joystick-and it played for much longer-but again eventually crashed.Perhaps the joystick was exasipating the problem, but not THE cause of it. My PC runs Lock on fine, with 50 frames PS,maybe down to 20 PS on overcast sky at times. It has nothing to do with excess processing (happened whilst taxiing). Anyone know if there is a solution to this problem.I love the game. Its a real bummer! I use an Athlon64 phenom (3 gig RAM,2.2 GHZ) quad core.Vista. Cheers
169th_Maverick Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I have the same problem. I think that it is caused (for me) by my crappy vid card. Are you using symentec (norton) by chance?
159th_Viper Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 ....Are you using symentec (norton) by chance? Aye - you've just managed to activate my 'Stressed Eric' vein currently throbbing on my left temple......... Personally I had endless trouble with Norton. Cheers Right click the icon/ select properties check the "run as administrator" box (Doesn't hurt to select XPsp2 in the compatibility mode list) Make sure that lock on resolution is the same as your desktop. Thanks.I had to do that to run lock on initially,as it wouldn't play. So it should play without crashing if i run it this way? Yes,the resolution is same as desktop (i think, better check) Cheers

Not using Norton,no. My video card is built into the PC.It's NVIDEA 256mb,quite adequate i thought.Someone did suggest i should upgrade to a 512mb (for FSX). The game runs fine, real smooth (with the VC slide toward performance,as opposed to quality)
S77th-konkussion Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 The importance of the amount of onboard video memory pales in comparison to what the processing power is. Both major makers often make the same damn card as before but add more memory and call it a revolutionary improvement. Rubbish. You should post the complete description of the card, and the rest of your hardware too. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
airmad Posted May 16, 2008 Author Posted May 16, 2008 NVIDIA 8400 G force I don't think it has anything to do with lack of processing power.Perhaps the disk is corrupted. Whatever it is,i know the joystick exaccerbates the problem. The thrust control on the Logicattack 3 joystick doesn't work with Lock on,too (it does on falcon allied force,FS2004).

Other nvidia owners can tell you that. Check your thrust axis using the instructions on this page. http://www.freewebs.com/konkussion/flighthardwaresetuppage.htm [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
