Noctrach Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Is there a (legitimate) way to reduce the flare release interval on the Viggen to less than once every 2 seconds? Reason I ask is that DCS's flare simulation being the way it is, having only 2-3 active flares in the air at any given time makes MANPADs a significantly more lethal threat to the Viggen than even the toughest SAM site :/
TOViper Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I do this by consecutive press / release of the dispense button on my stick, which means that pressing it 4 times means two flares are released one after the other. The quicker the press / release, the shorter the interval. Currently I have no other option available for accomplishing this. I am doing this on my Warthog Stick with the my thumb on the light grey 5-way hat switch. Skyracer Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I use a script, so when button is held down it just spams flares. And since once dispencer pod can hold 270 flares, you can be pretty liberal with the use of flares. Noctrach Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 Thanks, I'll see if I can also do something of a script for this. For now I just roll with two pods I think, twice the flares, twice the fun.
TOViper Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 ... once dispencer pod can hold 270 flares, ... Hm ... are you sure about the number? According to manual, and also my experience, there are only 36 within one pod, no matter what the slider in the load-out window within the game tells you. I use autohotkey, script function is easy. All the script does is while joystickbtn 15 is pressed down it holds Q down for 45 ms, then it releases it. You can of course tweak the script, however you want it. I use TM warthog joystick, where btn 15 is decoy btn pressed down.
