ResonantCard1 Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 Hello, I've been watching Vietnam War documentaries where they talk about air assaults conducted by Hueys and such. That made me wonder, do you guys know where can I learn about the air assault tactics employed by units using Mi-8s? Or have anything to say about it? Main: MiG-21bis, because pocket rockets are fun Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum
Viktor_UHPK Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Hey. I have not yet found a book that covers tactics specifically. But you can try looking for "Боевое применение вертолёта в Афганистане" and "вертолетная тактика Афганской войны" and use Yandex translate (best Russian - English translator). Here's an interesting article to start with: http://otvaga2004.ru/boyevoe-primenenie/boyevoye-primeneniye04/afgan-vertolety-mi24/ If you find something interesting, it would be cool if you would share! mooncat Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 The Mi-24 webpage was interesting. There's also one on the Mi-8 in Afghanistan http://otvaga2004.ru/boyevoe-primenenie/boyevoye-primeneniye04/afgan-mi-8/
Guile Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 You could learn more about Air Assaults from our server. 24/7 Air Assault Operations. We have some documentation based on US Army doctrine. The aircraft is not as important as the techniques and tactics. Even the big ass Chinooks do air assaults in real life. ▀▄▀▄▀▄ DCS: Air Assault Operations ▄▀▄▀▄▀ Join the fight! YouTube Channel
