After several months away from flying the Su-33 I returned to find a strange condition where the cockpit instrument reflections seemed significantly stronger, and to me, very distracting making the instruments difficult to read. I found a thread where this condition was reported for several aircraft and ED responded they're considering making reflection an option. Meanwhile, I've created a mod for the Su-33 with 4 new cockpit instrument reflection intensities ranging from the current highly reflective to no reflections. You can find the mod at: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313194/

Here's a couple shots of the extremes, no reflections vs the current high reflections...

Thanks man, I was looking for this. Good job!

You're very welcome! Once I saw how out of control those reflections were I knew I had to do something :smilewink:

Hi all,

fellow pilot Mike_Romeo informed me that there's a much easier installation for those already using a custom Su-33 cockpit (Devrim's English language Gray cockpit for example). It's a simple addition to the cockpit description.lua and moving whichever of my reflection files you want to use. I updated my readme to include the details and re-released the mod as v2. You can find it at: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313194/

@WytchCrypt Thank you VERY much, it works great.
BUT - can you add it to the HDD data link display also?  I tried to edit the .dds, but I only see a totally black image.

Thx

Hi, I just added a description of how to reduce/eliminate the HDD reflection on the detail page for the mod.  Here's what I wrote:

The Flanker HDD reflection is not controlled by the file in this mod, but by the "su33_cpt_int07.dds" file.  In that file there's a silvery rectangle beginning at about the top left pixel 970x570 to the bottom right pixel at 1360x875.  I hate that reflection as well, and it may not look realistic but I paint that rectangle opaque black and put an evenly spaced 3x3 line grid on top of it.  Works great with no reflection on the HDD!  After painting that rectangle in Gimp/Photoshop and properly creating the su33_cpt_int07.dds you can install it the same way as my README instructs for the su33_glass_prib_refl.dds.  If it's too black, you can always experiment with making that black rectangle less opaque so the mirror-like silvery surface underneath shows through for some reflection.

Have Fun!  And let me know if you get stuck and I'll send you my su33_cpt_int07.dds  😉

Just wanted to follow up that I decided to create a new mod that specifically addresses the reflection on the Su33 HDD.  It's called, "Su33 Cockpit HDD Reflection Mod" and can be found here:  https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3314230/

Here's a shot to show one of the changes you can make with this mod:
