JDAMS withoiut TPOD

I did experiment an with GBU-54, without LiteningII pod. It appears that JDAMs can take target data from ARBS, and strike a fixed point target with accuracy. This I did not expect. I thought, til now, that JDAMs and Tpods are intimately connected. The weapon must receive accurate target data from pod. For moving point target, that is true, but for fixed targets , it appears JDAMs don't require Tpod. I imagine that JDAM , without TPOD, accuracy is directly related to INS/EGI accuracy.

The JDAM receives the SD or system designated target point from the aircraft. This could have been designated via any of the sensors on the aircraft. TGP, DMT TV, map slew etc. It will attack whatever you give it really.
