VS461 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Hi guys, sorry for a new thread but cannot find an existing and suitable one... I've just started to build a new rig and have a bit trouble; which HDD setup is best: - one partition for both the OS (XP) and main program files (LOFC, DCS:BS:)) on a HDD, or - one partition for the OS and another for these programs on the same HDD, or - one HDD for the OS and another for programs? I don't want to build a RAID rig, just want the best performance. One HDD will be a WD Raptor (just one:() and one or two "pure" 7200RPM SATA things. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! SuperKungFu Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Personally I have one 1 partition. 1 for the OS, and all the other program, I gave that 80 gigs And the rest is just storage for files. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pilotasso Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Got 2 disk drives, both have 1 partition. one for backups and the other to install progams and to screw up the OS, so I dont loose my backups if I cant boot the machine anymore. .
