javelina1 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 From what I've found (via the net), the Samsung NVMe drives can run a bit hotter than the others. Especially the drive that gets tucked under the GPU, not much I can do for it, lacking any clearance from the RTX for an aftermarket heatsink. (I'm using the Aorus supplied sink/cover that came with the MB). Also, I'm using 3x NVMe's, so all slots are used, and no opportunity to move the center NVMe away from the GPU.... Digging through my spare parts, I found I had a new Noctua 40mm fan. So I figured, heck, why not. Lets print out a spot cooler stand for it. Went to Thingiverse and found something interesting. Printed it out and installed this little setup earlier this morning. I think I picked up a few degree's C of cooling. Nothing much. But then again, the 40mm can only push out so much. I'm thinking of scaling this to support a 60mm or 80mm fan next.... (for the increased air flow). Heck why not, gives me something to do with the 3D printer.... 1 MSI MAG Z790 Carbon, i9-13900k, NH-D15 cooler, 64 GB CL40 6000mhz RAM, MSI RTX4090, Yamaha 5.1 A/V Receiver, 4x 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe, 1x 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD, Win 11 Pro, TM Warthog, Virpil WarBRD, MFG Crosswinds, 43" Samsung 4K TV, 21.5 Acer VT touchscreen, TrackIR, Varjo Aero, Wheel Stand Pro Super Warthog, Phanteks Enthoo Pro2 Full Tower Case, Seasonic GX-1200 ATX3 PSU, PointCTRL, Buttkicker 2, K-51 Helicopter Collective Control
