Right now the radio menu can only be used with the F-keys in VR. Pretty annoying, because you can’t see the keyboard.

My idea:

When using the transmit button on the HOTAS the menu comes up, just like it works now, but as long as the button is depressed a selection box appears and can be scrolled with the mouse wheel or dedicated buttons. As soon as you release the transmit button the boxed option is executed.
I would guess that this would be relatively easy to implement and would make usage of coms much easier, especially in VR

Long term something like the Jester radial menu would be great.

You can also use the mouse in VR, a lot easier then the F-keys.

You can use touch controllers (or any other mouse-like controller) to click the radio menus.

It was added couple years ago to make it clickable (IIRC 1.5 version time).

The radio should be able to be a pie-menu, either 4/5-way or 8-way depending which one is wanted to be used. Just so one can bind it to a hat to and use it to navigate through the radio menu (there is always one direction as "back" and it forms a series of "circles" that you push toward to select them.

Example a 5-way hat (4-directions + push) would allow to have a push as Back, and then use the four directions to open new sub-menus or select from there the wanted function.

Mouse shouldn't be a requirement, as it should be HOTAS by desing.

Oh really? I tried that but maybe I just missed. Hard to do in 3D space with letters floating in the air 😄

That’s a neat idea as well. And it would be an alternative for people without VR or TrackIR, that could use the F-14 “just look at the thing”-technique.
