hitman Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Before you can overclock, you have to know if your psu can supply the proper amperes. If you have 1 9600, you need 25 amps, 2 youll need 30. ' Get the 175.16 drivers, they are the most stable for this card.
rattler Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Thanks hitman: I have one 9600. Had the 175.16 installed but put in 174.74 as they are the Asus drivers. Got it running better but a lot of options to tune. Do you think I should go back to the 175.16 driver? Or leave well enough alone as it seems to be working except for some shimmer around banks of water. Appreciate your reply. The 9600 is factory OC and I will leave it at those settings. The name of the card is Asus EN9600Gt TOP.Thanks again for help!!
hitman Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Asus drivers are crap. I can tell you that from first hand experience, and they dont support their product like they should. 175.16 are the best, I would stick with them. Thats why nvidia released it so fast out of beta. Nothing but issues with the 174.74 drivers. Basically its the same exact card I have with the exception of name brand. Youll have shimmering in both drivers, but Tekas mod takes care of it for me.
rattler Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Thanks again Hitman: taking your advise and going to 175.16. I think the card is great but drivers well, I think they need to pay more attention to. the old ATI VS Nvidia and back again. Card is stable and fast and only a shimmer around coast and banks of water and that depends on angle you look at, so it is much improved. do you think Nhencer would be good to load or stick with NV control panel? thanks You are really helping out.
hitman Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Nhancer does the same thing ntune would do. Only diff is is that ntune allows you to overclock your card while Nhancer just has more options available for you, and it only benefits you in Sli mode.
rattler Posted June 12, 2008 Author Posted June 12, 2008 Thanks hitman: I think you have me all straight on the NV card. Seems to be working very smooth now. I have downloaded Asus Probe2 and will now get ntune to keep an eye on card. So far temps stay around 33c. I have extra cooling when I had the ATI card. It ran hot, near upper limits during summer so new case fans and a very expensive gpu cooler. Has fins top and bottom with two fans pushing air , mounted down inside about half way. Very effective. Thanks for all your help getting me fixed up, really appreciate your time and effort. Thanks to you I am now happy with the card. cheers!!!
