Sr. Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 (edited) I was just reading an announcement from ED. The announcement was in regard to the Channel Map. Quote In some Single Player missions we have introduced FWAF (Fly With A Friend). It allows you to upload the mission to your own server and fly it with a friend or virtual squadron. Ideal for training and for those not quite ready to venture into multiplayer just yet. This is a great way to share the experience with those of you who are just getting started in DCS World. I've wondered if actual co-op mode was a thing in DCS? By co-op mode, it would be fun to fly the Fast Action and other training type mini campaigns/missions with a friend as opposed to going full on multiplayer on public servers. To be more specific, I am referring to these type "missions". They would be much more fun to fly with a friend than "2."(AI) Edited January 15, 2021 by Sr. Ryzen 7 5800X3D | 64GB DDR4 3600| MSI RTX 4080 16GB Ventus 3X OC | Samsung 970 Evo 2TB NVME | Quest 3 | Logitech X-56 throttle | VKB NXT Premium | Win 11 "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." --Arthur C Clark
Grimes Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 The difference between a single player and MP/co-op mission is the addition of "client" skilled aircraft. Its always been relatively easy to go into the editor modify a mission to add those client slots to existing missions. However you still have the limitations of MP where logbook stats aren't tracked, you can play individual missions from a campaign but its done outside of the campaign UI and you don't get "credit" for it, and certain triggers will only work on the host and not any of the clients. There is also the fact that triggers for single player missions are typically made to check only the "player" aircraft, so if not modified there is always a chance that the slot goes un-occupied or things trigger at incorrect times. For example in SP the player is expected to go to a trigger zone in order to progress in the mission and the trigger isn't modified to look for any of the aircraft in MP, then only one aircraft slot is capable of tripping that trigger. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Sr. Posted February 1, 2021 Author Posted February 1, 2021 While we're at it... would it be very difficult to make the above mention list of mission flyable with the A-10C II?
