nusu1 Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 (edited) Hi everyone, I'm just starting out with VR. I have an Oculus quest 2 and a PS4 game-pad as my preferred controller. In VR by looking at a clickable cockpit switch I can position my (mouse cursor cross-hair) on the switch I want to actuate, but now I need to map the LMB / RMB to my PS4 game-pad buttons any suggestions? Lace Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 (edited) Welcome! I have a Rift S and use a similar (Xbox) controller when away from home. I have mapped the LMB/RMB/Mouse scroll to the controller. You will find them in the UI Layer section of the controls menu. Here is an example of my Viper map. It is surprising just how much you can map to a simple game controller and still be reasonably combat effective. Edit - You don't say which module(s) you are flying. Ironically I find the high-fidelity modules easier from a mapping point of view since they have full clickable cockpits. The FC3 modules require a large amount of keys to be mapped since in is not possible to interact with the cockpit via mouse clicks. This (for me at least) makes them essentially unusable in VR, at least not without spending ages mapping (and memorising) controls. Clicky pits are so much better for VR. nusu1 Posted January 19, 2021 Author Posted January 19, 2021 (edited) Thanks, I'll look in to the UI Layer section. Great help!! Cheers fella. By the way... I started out with FC3, but have recently bought AV8-B & FA-18 modules. If you have mapped those to your game-pad I would be very grateful. Also I have now replaced my knackered PS4 game-pad with a Xbox360 game-pad. Again thanks for your time. I didn't know about the UI layer thing. Edited January 26, 2021 by nusu1
