rattler Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 Hi Guy's: I have one of the first X52 joysticks and I have a slight problem. The Stick is getting tight on the axis. Climb/decent and a little on the left/right axis. Does anyone know how to lubricate this stick? I have cleaned the silver plate and it seems to be worn a little in a couple of spots but the binding seems to be from inside but that could be just how it feels to me. Is the a schematic for taking it apart. I don't want to unscrew base and find springs and switches flying every where, hee hee. Did that on a Logiteck stick. took for ever to put back. Any info on this would be appreciated. Maybe someone has just unscrewed the base and would be able to tell me what to expect and do, if that is where the problem is. Thanks guy's would appreciate some help here. Cheers. P.S. Groove, if I have this in the wrong spot, just move it to where it should go. This tech forum sounded like the right spot but who knows. Cheers.
Peyoteros Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 Take it easy, there is nothing inside to fly out, 4 screws only, one of them under the rubber ring, so just do it.To lubricate you'll need something thick. Don't recommend to use oils, they aren't thick enough. You will see the parts which needs to be lubricated once you unscrew and move the stick around... good luck. Pilotasso Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 (edited) Silicon lubricant viscous mass is ideal. Liquid lubricants will cause vibrations. Rubb some on the aluminum axis on the stick. Do it on that place alone and in low quantities. You should avoid greasing the axis plastic disk at the outer edge, Its suposed to rotate in contact with the bottom, not slide. That may cause vibrations also. Edited July 4, 2008 by Pilotasso .
rattler Posted July 4, 2008 Author Posted July 4, 2008 Thanks guy's, I will see if I can find a heavy silicone grease and unscrew the base gently. Thanks, this helps a lot. Cheers.
